SPEAK OUT! ®

Parkinson’s disease often affects more than movement—it can significantly impact speech, voice, and swallowing. Individuals may experience reduced vocal volume, monotone speech, imprecise articulation, and difficulty being understood, which can lead to frustration and withdrawal from communication.

Both Christy Bisconer M.S. CCC-SLP and Ms. Alex Van Hook M.S. CCC-SLP have completed specialized training and have achieved certification as a Certified SPEAK OUT!® Speech-Language Pathologist. This training was provided by the Parkinson Voice Project. SPEAK OUT!® is a research-based approach specifically designed for individuals with Parkinson’s. The SPEAK OUT!® program focuses on speaking with intent, helping clients move from automatic speech patterns to purposeful, stronger communication.

How can a Speech-Language Pathologist help?

  • Increase vocal loudness and clarity
  • Improve breath support and voice quality
  • Enhance articulation and speech intelligibility
  • Strengthen cognitive-linguistic engagement during communication
  • Treatment is structured, functional, and highly motivating, with daily exercises that promote carryover into real-life communication.
