Group therapy, or therapy with two or more individuals performing the same or similar activities is an important therapy model at Dynamic Speech & Language Therapy. No one develops social language skills on their own. We need other people to interact with and communicate with to show us the way. For that reason, these social interactions are an essential part of therapy. In fact, there are many benefits associated with this type of service delivery option; the most important being, that group sessions mimic the real world and allow individuals working on social communication skills to practice sharing, turn taking, starting/ending conversations, asking/answering questions, and to consider the perspectives of others. These types of skills are then more likely to be implemented in everyday life. Just as significant, individuals experiencing challenges see that they are not alone; in other words, there are other people experiencing and facing many of the same challenges. At Dynamic Speech & Language Therapy, our group therapy option allows our clients to learn from one another, to encourage one another, and to have fun while communicating with others!
